Centre for Innovation

    Government of Kerala accorded Administrative Sanction for the Academic Infrastructure Development -Establishment of a centre for Innovation in the Department of Mechanical Engineering for an estimated amount of Rs 90,00,000/-( Rupees Ninety Lakh only ). It wasmentioned that an Advisory Board shall be constituted with Dr.Prakash.U, Professor & Headof Division of Mechanical (Automobile ) Engineering , Dept. of Mechanical Engineering as  Head and experts in Auto mobile sector so as to make the institution as premium College infive years.


Advisory Panel was constituted with the following members:

1. Dr. Prakash: Professor and Centre Head for Centre for Innovation

2. Prof Sabu V R: Associate Professor in Mechanical – Automobile Engineering, Member

3. Dr. K.C.Vora – Sr. Deputy Director and Head, ARAI Academy

4. Sreekumar V – Centre Head, Tata Elxsi

5. Huzefa A.C – Domain Head – Electric and Hybrid Vehicle Technology at Ashok Leyland

6. Preejesh M R- Practice Head, HILS and Validation, Tata Elxsi

7. SHAMAL V P- Practice Head, Electrification, Tata Elxsi

8. ANUSH G NAIR – Manager, Electrification, Tataa Elxi

9. Sumesh G Sasikumar- EIS; IoT – Trainee Onboarding Program, Tata ConsultancyServices Ltd and also additional member from Pune EIS team.

10. Milind M hase – Sr. Manager, TATA Motors


In addition to this an additional amount of Rs. 30,00,000/- was sanctioned from the MotorVehicle Department Under Emobility for the conversion of KSRTC min bus to electric and two autorickshaws with electric propulsion.

Centre for Innovation has also given the opportunity for the alumni to work as interns and also the students of final year and third year to get involved in the live project. Centre for Innovation to have the facilities for modelling and simulation of Electric Vehicle components with state of art simulation softwares capable of carrying out mechanical, structural,  thermal and electrical simulation with vehicle dynamics. The innovation centre is planning to emerge with all the testing for thermal solutions for the battery modules and also with data acquisition systems.

In future the Centre for Innovation will identify the emerging areas in the automobile field and work closely with industries and make the students ready as per the modern trends.
